A Google Ads agency that pays for intent, not traffic

Someone just searched for you.Make sure they call you.

Search, Local Services Ads and Performance Max campaigns aimed at people who need your service today, run in accounts you own. We optimize toward cost per booked call, not clicks or impressions.

Where Google budgets leak

Most accounts pay for searches the owner never wanted.

Google Ads should be the most predictable channel a local business has. The buyer types exactly what they need, where they need it, and you choose whether to show up. In practice, many accounts run on broad match, automatic suggestions and a single campaign covering every service, so budget flows to research searches, job seekers, competitors' brand names and towns you do not serve.

The second leak is measurement. When the only conversion is a page view or a button click, Google's bidding learns to find more of those, not more paying customers. The account reports healthy numbers while the phone stays quiet. Fixing structure without fixing tracking just moves the waste around.

Google Ads, explained plainly

How paid search works when it is run properly.

Google Ads is an auction for attention at the moment someone searches. Here is what decides who wins that auction and what you pay, and what separates a well-run account from a busy one.

How does the Google Ads auction decide who shows up?

Every search triggers a fresh auction. Google weighs your bid against an estimate of how relevant and useful your ad and landing page will be to that searcher, then ranks the eligible ads. A relevant ad that leads to a fast, matching page can outrank a bigger bid and often pays less per click. That is why tight ad groups, specific ad copy and dedicated landing pages matter so much: they make Google's quality estimate work in your favour. Throwing money at bids without fixing relevance usually just raises what you pay for the same position.

Search, Local Services Ads or Performance Max: which one fits?

Search campaigns show text ads on keywords you choose, and give the most control over wording, budget and landing pages. Local Services Ads appear above them with a Google verification badge, charge per lead rather than per click, and are available only to certain trades and professions in certain markets. Performance Max spreads one budget across Search, Maps, YouTube, Display and Gmail using Google's automation. It can work well once tracking is solid and there is enough conversion data, but it gives less visibility. Most service businesses start with Search, add Local Services Ads where eligible, and test Performance Max later.

Why do negative keywords and match types matter so much?

Match types tell Google how closely a search must resemble your keyword. Broad match gives Google room to interpret, which can find new demand but also pulls in loosely related searches. Negative keywords are the opposite instruction: never show for this. A renovation company might exclude "jobs", "salary", "rental" and "DIY"; a clinic might exclude "course" and "training". Reading the search terms report every week and adding negatives is unglamorous work, and it is where a large share of wasted spend is recovered. An account without a growing negative list is usually paying for searches nobody would approve.

What should a Google Ads conversion actually be?

A conversion should be the action closest to revenue that you can measure reliably. For most service businesses that means a phone call over a set length, a submitted quote form, or a booked appointment, not a page visit. Call tracking assigns numbers to ads and pages so calls can be counted. Importing outcomes from your CRM, such as booked or sold, lets Google's bidding learn which clicks became customers. Getting this right before scaling is the single biggest difference between accounts that improve over time and accounts that drift.

How should you judge a Google Ads agency?

Ask four things. Is the account in your name, with the agency added as a manager, so history and audiences stay with you? How are conversions defined, and are CRM outcomes imported? How often are search terms reviewed, and can you see the negative list? And what number appears at the top of the monthly report? If the answer is impressions, clicks or click-through rate rather than cost per qualified call or booked appointment, the reporting is protecting the agency, not informing you.

Search intent by industry

The same platform, four very different searchers.

Construction and trades

Trade searches split into emergencies and projects. "Furnace repair near me" needs call ads, tight geography and hours that match when you answer. "Basement renovation Vaughan" needs a project page with photos and a quote form. We separate the two so emergency budget is not spent on browsers, and check whether Local Services Ads are available for your trade.

Medical and aesthetics

Patients search by treatment and by worry: "root canal specialist", "Botox Richmond Hill", "physio for back pain". Google restricts some healthcare and prescription treatment terms, and Ontario's regulatory colleges set rules on claims and testimonials, so ad copy stays factual and lands on pages that explain the procedure. We track consult bookings, not just calls to the front desk.

Real estate and development

New-build and brokerage searches are long, local and research heavy: project names, neighbourhoods, "pre-construction condos Markham". We bid on project and area terms, protect your brand name from competitors, and send each campaign to a registration or showing page. Ads include the brokerage information real estate advertising in Ontario expects, and registrations are tracked through to appointments.

Professional services

Searches for a lawyer, accountant or financial adviser are high value and expensive per click, so precision matters more than volume. We build around specific matters, such as "wrongful dismissal lawyer" or "corporate tax accountant", qualify with intake forms, and keep claims within what your professional body allows. Success is measured by consultations booked, not form fills.

Inside a managed Google Ads account

What we build and run in your account.

Campaigns split by service and area

Separate campaigns for the jobs and cities that pay back, so each gets its own budget, ads and landing page.

Local Services Ads where eligible

Setup and verification support for Google's pay-per-lead listings, plus dispute handling for leads that do not qualify.

Weekly search term review

A person reads your search terms every week, adds negatives and flags new keywords worth bidding on.

Call and form tracking that holds up

Tracked numbers, tested conversion tags and CRM outcomes imported back so bidding learns from real bookings.

Landing pages built for the search

Pages that match the ad's promise, load fast on mobile and make calling or booking the obvious next step.

Ownership from day one

The account, conversion history and audiences sit in your name. We work as managers, never owners.

FAQ

Google Ads, your questions answered.

Straight answers on contracts, pricing, ownership and how we work.

Ask us on a call
How much should a small business spend on Google Ads in Toronto?+

Enough to get meaningful data on your core services, which depends on what clicks cost in your category and area. A narrow budget spread over every service learns nothing. We look at real cost-per-click estimates for your searches and what a job is worth, start with the campaigns most likely to pay back, and expand once cost per booked call is proven. Ad spend is paid directly to Google from your account.

How long does Google Ads take to work?+

Ads can show within a day of launch and calls often start in the first week. The first four to eight weeks are a learning period: we cut wasted searches, test ads and let bidding learn from clean conversion data. Accounts usually become more efficient over the following months, as long as tracking is accurate and someone keeps reviewing search terms.

What is the difference between Google Ads and Local Services Ads?+

Google Ads Search campaigns charge per click and let you choose keywords, ad wording and landing pages. Local Services Ads charge per lead, appear at the very top with a Google badge, and send people to a profile instead of your site. They are open only to certain service categories. Where a business qualifies, running both usually covers more of the page.

Is Performance Max worth it for local service businesses?+

Sometimes, but rarely as the first campaign. Performance Max relies on automation and needs reliable conversion data to aim well. Without it, spend can drift to placements that do not produce bookings. We usually launch with Search, get tracking and CRM outcomes flowing, then test Performance Max with brand exclusions and clear conversion goals, and keep it only if cost per booking holds up.

Do we keep our Google Ads account if we stop working with you?+

Yes. Capture Marketing manages your account through a manager connection, and the account itself stays in your name, along with its history, conversion actions, audiences and landing pages hosted on your domain. If you leave, we remove our access and everything we built stays with you, so a new manager or your own team can pick up exactly where we stopped without rebuilding.

Should we bid on our own business name?+

Usually yes, if competitors are bidding on it or if Google shows other businesses when people search your name. Brand clicks tend to be cheap and convert well, and the campaign protects the top of the page. We keep brand campaigns separate so they do not inflate the results of your non-brand campaigns in reporting.
