Video production in Toronto, with permits and airspace handled

Permits, airspace, crew, edit.Sorted before we roll.

Filming in Toronto involves more than a camera crew. Streets and parks can need City permits and notice to neighbours, much of the sky sits inside airport-controlled airspace, and job sites, clinics and sales centres each come with their own access rules.

Toronto

What a Toronto shoot day really takes.

Capture Marketing's in-house crew handles all of it, from the script and shot list to the drone authorization, the shoot and the final edits. We work from our offices in Richmond Hill and Vaughan and film across Toronto at your site, your clinic, your office or your project.

Most of the work happens before the shoot. Exterior scenes on city streets or in parks can need a permit from the City of Toronto's film office, applied for at least two full business days ahead, with written notice delivered to nearby residents and businesses 48 hours before the crew arrives. Drone shots near the waterfront or the west end need airspace planning because of Billy Bishop and Pearson. Condo sites need safety orientation, clinics need privacy, and office towers need building management sign-off. Sorting these early is what keeps the day on schedule.

What you get

Video production in Toronto, built around your area.

Permits and notices filed for you

We apply to the City's film office when a scene needs city property, and prepare the neighbour notice and parking plan.

Drone flights planned around two airports

Certified pilots, NAV CANADA authorizations where required, and a ground-level backup shot list if a flight is not approved.

Crews that know a job site

Safety orientation, PPE and timing around trades, so filming never holds up a pour or an inspection.

Corporate shoots that respect the office

Interviews lit and recorded in a boardroom or quiet floor, with loading dock and elevator access arranged ahead.

City of Toronto film permits, in plain terms

Commercial filming on City property, such as streets, sidewalks and parks, falls under the City's filming bylaw and is permitted through the Toronto film office. Applications need at least two full business days, and parks take longer. Crews must give written notice to affected residents and businesses at least 48 hours before arriving. The City's guidelines also place some work, including real estate ads and internal corporate training videos, outside the film permit program, although other City approvals can still apply. Filming inside private property needs the owner's permission, and TTC property is arranged with the TTC.

Drones over Toronto: Transport Canada and NAV CANADA

Commercial drone flights in Canada follow Transport Canada's rules: the drone is registered, the pilot holds the right certificate, and flights near bystanders or inside controlled airspace need an advanced certificate. Controlled airspace around Toronto Pearson and Billy Bishop covers much of the city, including the downtown waterfront, so many flights also need an authorization requested through NAV CANADA. Hospital helipads and City park rules add further limits. For builders and developers, we plan aerials of sites, towers and neighbourhoods weeks ahead and agree on a ground-level backup.

Shooting job sites, clinics and presale projects

Each niche has its own constraints. Toronto construction sites require safety orientation and PPE, and the best progress footage is planned around pours, crane lifts and inspections. Clinics usually film before opening or on a closed day, with no patient in frame unless they consent in writing and your college allows it. Presale projects often have no building yet, so launch films combine drone views of the lot, the neighbourhood, transit and amenities with model suite and sales centre footage. Law and accounting firms need boardroom interviews that look as considered as their advice.

Our Toronto plan

How we shoot in Toronto.

  1. Weeks 1 to 2

    Script and location plan

We write the script or interview guide, scout each location and list what it needs: permits, building access, parking and consent forms.

  2. Week 2

    Permits and airspace

Film office applications, neighbour notices, NAV CANADA requests for drone work and a call sheet shared with your team.

  3. Filming day

    One crew, every format

Interviews, B-roll and aerials captured in widescreen and vertical, so the same day supplies your website film, ads and reels.

  4. Weeks 3 to 5

    Edit, review and hand over

Two rounds of review, captions, colour and sound, then final files delivered with the raw footage, which stays yours.

FAQ

Video production in Toronto, your questions.

Straight answers on contracts, pricing, ownership and how we work.

Ask us on a call
Do we need a City of Toronto permit to film our business video?+

Only if you film on City property. Shooting inside your own office, clinic or job site needs the owner's permission, not a City film permit. Scenes on streets, sidewalks or in parks are different: the City's film office usually needs at least two business days, plus written notice to neighbours. We check every location in the plan and file whatever is needed.

What does a corporate video shoot at a Toronto office involve?+

Usually a half or full day with a small crew. We confirm loading dock, elevator and parking arrangements with building management, set up interviews in a quiet room with proper light and sound, then film the team, the space and the work. Most offices keep running around us, and a call sheet goes out in advance so staff know when they appear.

Can you film inside our clinic without disturbing patients?+

Yes. Most clinic shoots happen before opening, after closing or on a day the clinic is closed. We film practitioners, rooms and equipment, keep charts and screens out of frame, and only include a patient with written consent and where your regulatory college permits it. A typical clinic shoot takes a few hours, not a full day of disruption.

How do you make a presale video before the building exists?+

We build the film from what buyers can already see. That means drone footage of the site and its neighbourhood, nearby transit, parks and shops, sales centre and model suite scenes, and interviews with the builder or architect. Renderings can be animated and blended with real footage. As construction moves forward, milestone videos keep registrants engaged until closing.

Do you shoot listing videos for Toronto real estate agents?+

Yes. We film listing walkthroughs, agent introductions and neighbourhood clips, cut for listing links, social and ads, with brokerage details shown clearly. Interiors are filmed with the owner's permission. Street scenes are planned so they need no closures, and drone views are flown only where airspace and safety rules allow a flight over the property.
