Web design for businesses building their first real website

A blank page, planned around your buyers.

New custom websites for businesses that are launching, rebranding or replacing a placeholder site with nothing worth keeping. We plan the pages around what your buyers search and need to see, then design and build it properly from the ground up.

Why new sites stall

Launching a website is easy. Launching one that brings in work is not.

A new business, a new division or a rebrand needs a website quickly, so it often gets a template, a few pages of copy written the night before and a contact form nobody tests. It goes live, looks acceptable and then does nothing. No one searches for the business name yet, the pages do not target the services people actually look for, and there is no reason for a stranger to trust it.

The first build is the cheapest moment to get the foundations right. Page structure, URL naming, the services and locations you target, how enquiries reach you and how you measure them are all much harder to change once a site has history. Getting them right on day one saves you a redesign two years later.

How a new website gets planned

What goes into a custom website before anyone opens a design tool.

Good web design starts with decisions about who the site is for and what it needs to rank for. The visual design comes after, and it is easier to get right once those decisions are made.

Custom web design or a template?

Templates are built for anyone, so they carry layouts, sections and code your business does not need, and they look like thousands of other sites. They can be a fair starting point for a very small budget. A custom design starts from your services, buyers and proof, so each page has a job and only the sections that serve it. It also tends to load faster because there is less to download. The honest middle ground is a custom design built on a common platform, which keeps editing familiar without looking generic.

How is a new site structured for search?

Before design, we map the searches your buyers make and give each important one a page: one per core service, one per area you serve where it makes sense, and pages that answer the questions buyers ask before they choose. URLs are short and readable. Each page gets a unique title, description and heading. Structured data from schema.org tells search engines your business type, location and services. A new domain will not rank overnight, but a well-structured one has a far better chance once it builds history.

Which platform should a new website use?

It depends on who will update the site and what it must connect to. WordPress suits teams who want to edit pages themselves with a familiar editor and a large plugin ecosystem. A modern framework such as Next.js with a simple content editor is faster and more secure, with fewer moving parts to patch. Shopify suits businesses that sell products. We recommend after discovery. Whatever we choose, the domain, hosting and code are registered to you, not to us.

What makes a website convert visitors into enquiries?

Clarity first: a visitor should understand what you do, where you do it and who it is for within a few seconds. Then proof: real project photos, team faces, credentials and reviews placed next to the claims they support. Then one obvious next step on every page, a call, a quote request or a booking, repeated where a phone user can reach it with a thumb. Forms should ask only what you need to reply. Every one of these is planned on paper before design begins.

What do Ontario businesses need to know about accessibility?

Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act sets web accessibility requirements, based on the WCAG guidelines, for many organizations depending on their size and sector. Even where it is not required, an accessible site is simply a better site: readable contrast, text that scales, buttons that work with a keyboard, images with descriptions and forms with clear labels. Building it in from the start costs far less than retrofitting later. We design and test against WCAG 2.1 AA as standard.

First builds in our four niches

A new website has a different job in every industry we serve.

Construction and trades

A new contractor or a trade spinning off its own company needs to look established before it has a long history. We build around licence and insurance details, service area maps, finished project galleries from day one, and service pages for the jobs you want more of. Quote requests capture the job type and location so you can price and prioritize quickly.

Medical and aesthetics

A new clinic or med spa site has to reassure patients and stay inside the advertising rules of the relevant Ontario regulatory college. We plan treatment pages that explain the procedure, recovery and who it suits, introduce practitioners with real credentials, and avoid outcome promises and testimonials where they are restricted. Online booking or consultation requests connect directly to your scheduling system.

Real estate and development

Builders and developers launching a project often need a site before shovels go in the ground. We design project and community sites around renderings, floor plans, location and amenities, with a registration form that builds your interest list. Brokerages and agents get a brand site with area guides and listing integrations, so the site works between launches, not only during them.

Professional services

A new law, accounting or financial practice is selling trust before anything else. We build practice area pages that explain issues in plain language, profile each professional with credentials and photos, and keep the tone senior rather than salesy. Consultation requests ask the right screening questions, and content is written to respect the advertising guidelines of your professional body.

Inside a new build

Strategy, writing, design and code from one team under one roof.

Search and buyer research

We map the services, locations and questions people search for so the sitemap is built around real demand, not guesses.

Copywriting

Every page written by our team from interviews with you, in your voice, with the claims backed by your own proof.

Custom visual design

Layouts, typography and imagery designed for your brand, using your real work and people wherever possible.

Engineering done properly

Fast, accessible, secure code with schema, sitemaps and analytics built in by a team founded by engineers.

Enquiries that reach you

Forms, calls and bookings wired into your CRM, email and calendar, each tested before launch.

Photo and video when needed

Our in-house video and drone team can shoot your projects, clinic or office so the site is not built on stock images.

FAQ

Web Design, your questions answered.

Straight answers on contracts, pricing, ownership and how we work.

Ask us on a call
How long does it take to design a new website?+

Most new websites for service businesses take six to eight weeks from discovery to launch. Smaller sites with a handful of pages can be faster, while sites with custom features, many locations or integrations take longer. The biggest variable is how quickly copy and designs are approved, so we set review dates together at the start.

Do you write the content for a new website?+

Yes. Our team writes every page from an interview with you and research into what your buyers search for and ask. You get drafts to review and edit before design begins. If you already have content you like, we edit and structure it rather than starting over. Where photos or video would sell better than words, our in-house team can shoot them.

Will my new website show up on Google?+

It will be built to be found: proper page structure, titles, schema, a sitemap and verified Search Console from launch. A brand new domain takes time to build trust, so rankings for competitive searches grow over months, helped by a Google Business Profile, reviews and local SEO. Searches for your business name usually appear quickly once the site is indexed.

Who owns the website once it is built?+

You do. The domain, hosting account, code, content, images and analytics are registered in your business's name. Capture Marketing works with access you grant, so if you ever move on, you keep everything and can hand it to anyone. We do not build on proprietary systems that lock you in.

Can you design a website if I do not have a logo or brand yet?+

Yes. Many new businesses come to us before they have a finished brand. We can develop a simple identity alongside the site: logo, colours, typography and tone of voice, so everything launches together and looks consistent across the website, signage, social and ads. If you already have a rough logo, we can refine it rather than replace it, and you receive the files and a short guide to using them.

Do you work with businesses outside Toronto?+

Yes. Capture Marketing has offices in Richmond Hill and Vaughan and works with businesses across the GTA, elsewhere in Canada and in California. Discovery and design reviews happen in person at either office or over video call, whichever suits you. For local businesses outside the GTA, we plan the site around the towns and regions you serve, so the pages reflect your market rather than ours.
